Springtime is a beautiful time of year just about everywhere in the world. If Florida it is especially beautiful. Florida has long been known for our Alligators and Beaches, but we are also known for the variety of "Florida Birds".

Back in the 1800's up through the 1930s, many of Florida's beautiful birds were near extinction form Feather buyers. The market for these lacy looking feather for womens clothing, hats and other accessories about killed off all of Florida's birds. Many bird were forced into extinction, but fortunately the US Government stepped in and outlawed killing these birds.

Leading up to the Spring mating season, most of Florida's birds start growing their "mating Plumage". This new Plumage is involves the growth of long, lacy feathers which makes the maile birds more attractive o the females.

Below are a few pictures of a Great White Egret which stands about 3ft to 4ft tall. This particular guy was caught in my backyard yesterday while hunting for fish in the lake. Look at the beautiful tail feathers and the GREEN coloration between the eyes and beak.
