Road To Realtor - What's Your Big Why?

By
Real Estate Agent
This part of my journey isn't Realtor specific.  It can be applied to all walks of life, including yours.  You just have to take a few minutes to think about it.  Once you find your Big Why everything you do has more meaning and purpose.

When I became an agent at Keller Williams I was told to figure out my Big Why.  Your Big Why is what moves, drives and motivates you to do what you do.  A Big Why can change your focus on how you go about your day, helping you decide what's important and what can be left for later.  If it's not going to get you closer to the Big Why you can do it later...

Clearly, the answer is money. Right?  Who doesn't want money?  I want money, that must be my Big Why!

I set out to enhance my career to make as much money as possible.  To motivate myself I set some monetary goals: 1/4 of my remaining student loans paid off by end of 2014, $3000 in an emergency fund, etc.  Great! Goals are set and I'll start to be more driven/motivated.  Nope.  It apparently wasn't that easy.

One day it hit me as I read a tweet posted by another Realtor. Slightly paraphrased as I can't find the original tweet: If a Genie gave you 3 wishes what would they be?  I replied immediately without hesitation:

1. Find a way to manage my Crohn's disease without medication.
2. Support the Crohn's & Colitis foundation to help others do my #1 as well or find a cure.
3. Financial freedom to enroll in the unlimited class package at my favorite workout place.

I found it.  MY Big Why: my health and supporting others on their road to recovery.  Yes, money and financial success will play apart in reaching those goals.  Having these goals, these Big Why's, make me work with more purpose.

Your Why can be spend more time with your family, be able to take a vacation every year, buy that car you've been lusting after; anything you want it to be.  Why's will change as your life changes and evolves: addition of a family member, a big move in location or career, etc.  What is your Big Why?  And can I help you achieve it?
