No more fumbling around trying to find your keys ... There's a NEW WAY to enter a residence or facility and all you need is your smart phone! What?? Are metal keys going to be a thing of the past??? Maybe so!
Kwikset has developed a new deadbolt called "Kevo" that can be unlocked with a smartphone and a simple touch.
The Bluetooth enabled door lock communicates with the smartphone via an app that essentially turns the phone into an electronic key. When the phone comes within range of the lock, the lock recognizes it. Simply touch the lock to unlock it without taking the phone out of your pocket or purse.
You can send “eKeys” to others with compatible phones to give them access to your home, and you can disable or delete those eKeys any time if necessary.
The app is currently available only for iPhone 4S and 5 and iPads. Apps for Android and Blackberry are currently being developed. Alternatively, a key fob can be used by people who don’t have a compatible device.
No power needed, only 4 AA batteries that last about a year is all you need! No worries ... You will receive an alert on your phone when the batteries are getting low and need to be replaced!
Currently the price of Kevo sells for around $219 per unit. Want to read more about it? Here's the link to their website ... check it out! www.kwikset.com/kevo.
Now ... how's that sound?
