lake san marcosFor people who are into golf and other sports, Lake San Marcos in the city of San Marcos, California is a great option. It takes pride in its public executive golf courses, tennis courts, swimming pools and even paddle tennis courts. Lake San Marcos is a community that has a wide variety of housing opportunities (1273 condominiums and 915 single family homes), and the community is surrounded by a 40-acre man-made lake.

First purchased by the Clemson and Wells families way back in 1927, Lake San Marcos and was slowly developed starting in 1946 until it has become what it is today. The Frazar Brothers, who purchased the area in the 1960s, were the ones who have greatly contributed to the improvement of the entire land. In fact, it was their idea to restructure the property by reshaping the shorelines and thereby expanding the lake to 80 acres.

Due to the lovely and serene ambiance of the place, a lot of the visitors come to Lake San Marcos. The new Lakehouse Hotel & Resort is becoming increasingly more popular for conferences, outings, and even weddings. Note, however, that the lake is not suitable for water recreational activities except boating and fishing. Other than that, there are plenty of things to venture in Lake San Marcos—be it the country club, their small Community Park, the Community Recreational Complex, or the Lakehouse Hotel & Resort.
