A Pond Visited Between Rains

By
Real Estate Agent

The storm clouds predicted to bring rain in our area yesterday, made a split and headed a tad north and a little south of us.  While we need the precip, it provided a window of opportunity for me to jump on my bike.

The thing about riding a bicycle in the Greater Sacramento region is no two rides are alike!  There’s always something fresh and new, to experience within the first few minutes of pedaling.

When I came upon this scene at the Hagan Community Park pond, in Rancho Cordova, I found several fishermen hooking trout, which had been planted, earlier in the day!

The park is cradled on land between The American River, and Cordova High School.  As students passed on their way elsewhere, it was clear some wished homework or other obligations weren’t calling them so quickly away from water’s edge.

Good morning, Myrl -- I love the title of this post.  You give insight into your neighborhood and the experiences anyone can have if they seize the moment.  Great photos too.

Who is that man in the overalls?  He is so cute sitting on his cooler pondering life and then showing you his fish!  Love his outfit too!

Myrl,

Lovely title, and love the photos.  We could use some rain also, and for some reason at the last moment the clouds head elsewhere.  I must the sky shows are superb. A

Myrl, it is so nice that you can get out and ride your bike.  It has snowed something like 11 out of the last 15 days here in Vermont.  It is quite icy today!

Michael - I'm glad you like them!  And, thank you for your kind words!

Trisha - The Sacramento Region has the American River Parkway and Bike Path, which stretches from Old Sacramento to Folsom.  It provides delightful views and experiences along the River.

Kerrie - The guy in the picture is actually John, my ex-husband since 1992.  We grew up together within a couple hundred feet of each other on the same block.  When we separated, I bought a house within 500 feet of him, so our kids could go between, without having to be driven.  It has remained that way since.  John has since remarried a really sweet lady, and between her children and our's, we often find ourselves celebrating holidays together.  We are fortunate, things have turned out this well.  Back in 2009 I wrote a blog titled, "A Different Kind of Love Story."  You might want to check it out!

Myrl, yes it is dry in your area.  We were at the NAR Convention in SF last week and made a little side trip up to Sonoma and everything was so brown!  I thought of you Myrl when we cleared Oakland and saw the signs for Sacramento.

Hi Myrl, We were scheduled to have heavy rains yesterday, today and tomorrow. Nothing but a fine mist in the air. There is something about this scene that sort of makes one feel that whoever thought up this idea for the pond was a genius.

Hi Myrl,

Lots of fishing going on in your area. Salmon fishing yesterday and trout today. Sure makes me hungry for some fresh fish.

Hi Myrl,

I just love blog posts like this that are so natural. Obviously, those are no models that posed for you but look at that pride on the guy who caught the fish's face!

I think you need to get out on your bike more. Your photos and your stories are always the best!

Lisa - I'm glad you liked it!  It has worked out well for us!

Teral - Sometimes you need to stop and seize the moment!

Bruce - I'm really glad you were able to visit San Francisco and the Wine Country.  The drought has taken its toll on much of the landscape as you noticed.

William - That was the way it was here as well.  Fine mist, when more heavy rains were predicted!  Hagan Community Park was a truly well planned and developed place.  There are 3 swimming pools, tennis courts, many picnic areas, baseball diamonds, and several ponds.  The beauty is that it is right next to the American River Parkway, and river.
