Second Wilton Murder in 1897
David S.R. Lambert, a prominent school teacher, was murdered in cold blood on December 17,1897. After an evening out, David arrived home to find his wife gagged and chloroformed and 2 men with guns in his home. Lambert was shot 4 times and died 5 days later, never regaining consciousness. The motive appears to have been financial, but one of the accomplices was a disgruntled student Lambert taught years ago. The 2 men were caught and later hanged for the murder.
