Please do not be stupid and put yourself in peril

Sometimes people's lack of awareness just simply amazes me. Today, my dad and I went to Central Market on Westheimer in Houston around the midtown area. We were in the parking lot and there was a stupid woman walking in the middle of the lane. She was taking her sweet time and I thought; why you would you do something so stupid. I really wanted to honk at her but with my new car this is not a soft little beep it is a loud blare. This  has happened there several times. I have actually honked my horn when I had a soft beep I could give and the people gave me just glared at me. I think that people that walking in the middle of a parking lot have issues. One being selfish, I would never walk in the middle of the parking lot aisle knowing that is for cars and not pedestrians. Please remember if you are that foolish, there are many others that are foolish too; for instance texting and blabbing on the phone so they may not expect anyone in the middle of the aisle and hit you please do not be stupid and put yourself in peril.

Yolanda-Sometimes people do that because drivers back out without watching for walkers. Giving yourself a few extra feet provides a bit of a cushion. Not to excuse her and impeding traffic is a danger for walkers too. But I could be wrong and maybe she is just a jerk.

I agree with Wayne: sometimes , it's the nature of the parking lot, and being familliar....

I walk in the center of the lane.... and move to the side when a car approaches.... and back to the middle after they go by. Perhaps she was in some kind of crisis mode and not thinking straight. ?!?

Wayne - I totally understand giving yourself that cushion that is why I try to park so where I do not have to back out but this is the middle

Joni - You move when a car comes I still think right in the middle is not a good idea I totally understand giving yourself a cushion but not in the middle of aisle.

All of us need to be careful. In Montgomery County, Maryland, 125 people were hit in parking lots and garages last year. (That is out of a total of 423 in the county). I will need to write a blog as well.

Yolanda - I see people walk out the front door of the Supermarket.  Instead of walking in a straight line to get across the main traffic artery, they walk in a long "diagonal" in the middle of the road, until they get to the row where their car is parked.  You wait and wonder how long before they are going to get out of the way.  It is rude and inconsiderate, and as you point out, very dangerous!

Yolanda, did you see the movie Fried Green Tomatoes? I have thought of that movie and the scene with the two girls taking that parking spot from the older lady with more insurance so many times!!!! When somebody zips into my parking spot because they think they can cut me off, I think of that movie and wish I could do just that!!!!  :-)

Howdy and afternoon Yolanda

Yolanda my friend,  that sure is a mighty dum thing for folks to do. I see folks in parking lots here do the samething.

I experienced this very thing today when I took my mom to HEB. While parking this older woman was walking down the middle length of the drive. I know she could hear us behind her but did she move over? NO she didn't!

Yolanda - That irritates me too.  With the way some people drive in parking lots I would think that walking down the center of the lane would not be a very smart thing to do.
