The Santa Express Train is getting ready to roll out of the Woodbridge VRE station and tickets for the annual event go on sale November 25, 2013 starting at 9 am. Tickets will also be available at other stations on the Manassas Line and Fredericksburg line. The tickets are very popular and generally sell out within the first few hours they are available. Online tickets will go on sale at 9am on Monday, November 25th, and the link for purchasing tickets will be on the VRE website on each station page.
Tickets purchased in person at stations will be $5.00 and on-line $6.00. Everyone riding the train MUST have a ticket, even infants and there is a limit of 6 tickets per family. Regular VRE tickets are not valid for the Santa Train.
The Virginia Rail Express Santa train has always been a popular event for families. It is also a time for giving back to your community Marines will be at each station collecting unwrapped toys for the annual Toy's for Tots campaign. The train ride will be on December 14, 2013 and is an hour out and back, returning you to the station where you started. Of course Mr. and Mrs. Claus are on board to visit the children and you can be guaranteed will delight youngsters young and old.
Santa trains also run out of Fredericksburg (4 trains), Manassas (4 trains) and Burke Centre (2 trains). Each VRE train station will be selling tickets on November 25, 2013 at the following times and locations.
