The Bridges Golf Course Community in Montrose Colorado was opened in 2005. The Course was designed by the Jack Nicklaus Company. It is not a signature course, which means Jack himself did not have a hand in its design.
Over the years The Bridges has gone through its ups and downs that's for sure.. The first couple of years it had a lot of Lot Sales and Homes being built. Then the owner/developer died and the recession hit and everything came to a halt.
It went through a couple of years where the FDIC owned and operated the Course and Clubhouse. Around the end of 2010 beginning of 2011 The property was purchased by a gentleman from Arkansas for a little over $3 Million. The last couple of years the course has been running smoothly and is in great shape.
The Clubhouse has to one of the most spectacular in the State. At 23,500 sq ft it is an imposing structure. Inside the Clubhouse is a very fine restaurant called Remingtons which is open to the Public. The Views of The San Juan Mountains from inside the restaurant and from the large coverd patio are unquestionably some of the most impressive any where.
The clubhouse is also a popular venue for holding weddings and Christmas Parties. There are some guest rooms upstairs in the Clubhouse, along with a room that you can rent out for a private function with an outside balcony to take in the view.
The course is a Par 72 from the tournament tees (tips) it is 7,207 yards from the ladies tees it is 5,380 yards. There are 4 sets of tees all together. Some of my favorite holes are #3. Hole 3 is a short par 4 at 349 yards from the silver tees, but you must position your tee shot well as there are a line of sand traps running at an angle down the center of the fairway.
Hole 13 (Photo Below) is also a short par 4 at 320 yards from teh silver tees. For the big driver you can drive the green but it is well guarded by a lake in front and around to the left, with traps in front and at the back of the green, a 180 yard lay up down the middle is your safe play.
Hole 15 is a Par 5. The interesting feature on this hole is it has 2 greens, so from day to day you don't know which green is in play. There are a number of interesting holes. The green fees vary depending on the time of year. In the off peak times $50 to $65 for 18 holes including cart. In the summer $85 is more what you can expect to pay.
As we move into 2014 and the Real Estate Market is improving the Bridges is posied to make a come back. I expect lots to start selling again and some new homes to be built. At the time of writing this article lot prices are for the most part at $50,000 which includes a membership. Monthly dues for a golf membership is around $250/$300 per month. They also have as Socail Membership which is $50 per month. There is a fitness center in the clubhouse that is part of your membership. If you would like an updated list of lot prices and homes that are currently available please contact me and I will be more than happy to provide you with that information.
