License-Free Fishing Days in Florida are Back!

Hernando County ParksFlorida requires licenses for saltwater and freshwater fishing but each year, there are a few days, when no licenses are required to fish.

That's good news for those who don't have a recreational Florida fishing license and would like to try fishing to see if it is something they would enjoy.

Here are the upcoming dates for recreational license-free fishing days in Florida:

November 29, 2013:  License-free Freshwater Fishing Day

November 30, 2013:  License-free Saltwater Fishing Day

December 28, 2013:  License-free Freshwater Fishing Day

With waterways, lakes, rivers, and hundreds of miles of coastline, Florida is the Fishing capital of the world.  Fishing is a great way to enjoy the Florida outdoors and nature and fishing is something the whole family can enjoy!  You can even take your catch home with you and have fresh fish for dinner!

Don't worry, even if your catch is not big enough to keep or if you prefer to catch and release, fishing is a fun activity that lets you enjoy many other aspects of Florida nature.  Sitting still in one place for a while, you will be amazed at the wildlife you can observe whether it is birds, fish, turtles, dolphins and manatees, or other creatures.

For more information about Florida fishing and if you decide you want to get your fishing license either for freshwater, saltwater, or both, visit the website of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

Silvia there is nothing more relaxing then fishing. I haven't done it in a few years but the idea sounds great. Have a nice weekend.

I had not heard of licenses for the ocean Silvia. I guess the government always wants a tax on people. The license free days remind me of the sales tax free days before school. I grew up fishing on piers in Florida and at the beach and never had a license.

Silvia, this is great for people who love to fish or to at least give it a try and see if they want to buy a Florida license later if they like fishing.

Patricia, thank you so much as well as the reblog!

Patrick, fishing is a wholesome activity... except for the fish maybe... have fun!

Joan, I haven't been in quite a while neither but I used to enjoy it especially when I caught something!

Noah, maybe it's time to pick up that fishing pole again!

Gary, times sure have changed but children under 16 are still exempted from having to have a license.  Here is alink to the all the exemptions:   http://myfwc.com/license/recreational/do-i-need-a-license/

Bruce, thank you, that's what these license free fishing days are intended for!
