Stronger than you think

I have a listing.  It is my dear friend who has been an agent for 20 some odd years.  She used to be one of the top ten agents in my association.  She has sold her fair share of real estate.  It was a total compliment that she would ask me to help her.  She has now slowed down a bit.

She lost her beloved mother last year after taking care of her in the most loving way a daughter can love a mother.  While my friend belabored and loved her mother, she neglected herself.  She skipped her mammogram.  The next year when she went to get caught up on her own health issues it was discovered that she had breast cancer.  She had 3 surgeries and then started an aggressive round of Chemotherapy.  She had the best attitude.  She would go on Wednesday and get her manicure and then go on Thursday and be all fluffed up for her day at Chemo.  Every outfit was a perfect match, including earrings, jewelry, and shoes.  Even the glasses were coordinated with each outfit!!  She amazes me!

They tell her that her cancer is gone, but she is now having radiation therapy daily for 6 weeks.  And you thought you were having a time?

She called me a couple of months ago and was just wiped out and asked me to come and list her house for her and get it sold.  She was just too worn out to deal with it anymore.  We have had some good traffic through, a couple of folks for a second look.  We are hoping for an offer soon.

I have to say my friend always amazes me that she gets worn out, but always has a positive attitude.  She is always put together and a good word for everyone.  She is now getting her energy back.

I believe we are all stronger than we give ourselves credit for.  I too have lived through a cancer diagnosis.  All is well.  Thank God. The point is, we all get so caught up in wallowing in how "bad the market is" that we lose sight of other things that are important. Live your life and counting your blessings.   Work hard, keep your attitude positive and know you are going to live through this market and come out on top.

Praise the Lord!  May He bless your friend with good health,  all the days of her life.

I can see He already has blessed her with good friends like you.  Thanks be to God.

Your friend's great outlook is admirable, I wish her the best.

You are absolutely right...it's hard not to fall into the trap of taking care of other people and other things and neglecting yourself. We have to make sure not to do that.

Audrey - All the best to you and your friend.  You are so right that we need to keep our eye on the future during this very temporary change in the market.  We will make it through.  It's stories like this that remind us that we need to focus on the things in life that are most important.  Thanks for sharing.

Gary, Thanks, I do feel blessed and even in this time of an uncertain market I feel good because of those things.

Suzanne, I am so proud of my friend, she is doing better.  I know you have had some health battles too.  I wish you well and hope you are doing better.

Audrey - Thanks for this post.  I need encouragement from time to time.  I need a reminder that the market will change and I have to just keep plugging along.  There are many others in much worse condition than I do.  I've had my share of health issues as well.  Maybe not as bad as some but worse than others.  But I made it through as I will if I am faced with it again.

Audrey, aint it grand to have people in your life like her. We we have a bad day, they put it into perspective for us and then we can move forward.

Audrey, I just lost a friend to breast cancer, she wanted to treat it with natural remedies and wouldn't have the chemo. I know your friend has been through a lot and it's nice for her that you are there for her. Thanks for the positive message.

Audrey- I remember you telling us about this friend ......yes, it is so true that while we all bemoan our own situation there are people worse off than we are.  financial is one thing, and health is another.....put the 2 together and it can be an overwhelming situation.  So happy to hear you are helping her and have had a few repeat looks at her home.  Best to both of you :)

Nannette, I am glad you stopped by and liked the post.  The market will change and being positive will make it a bit bearable.  I hope you are feeling better, we are here for you!

Danny, I love her.  She gets down, but then gets back up with a bang!

Debbie, sorry to heare about your friend.  It is tough when people want to try different treatments.   I guess you have to respect their choices.  I am glad you stopped by.

Kathy, When I am around her she makes me feel much better.  When I leave her she makes me feel blessed!

I have chills right now.  So true.  Count your blessings.  Enjoy life.  My girlfriend and I were talking today and she feels like the last 8 years have go by so fast.  She actually said "where has the time gone".  If your not carefull, it will pass right before your eyes.

You should read my blog.  I am doing the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer this summer.  I decided to be a part of something bigger than myself.  check it out.  Kims Avon Walk

Kim, I will get right over to your blog.  I am a sponsor of the walk and have run in the race for the cure.  Good for you for helping the cause.  Thank you for your kind words!

Your final paragraph says it all.  Yes life is hard, but it is also very beautiful.  Continued good health and best of luck in your business.
