Nordstrom to Celebrate Thanksgiving not Sellebrate - Speechless Sundays

Nordstrom Thanksgving

I'm sure there are those who work in retail who would like the opportunity for overtime on Thanksgiving though I'm not sure how many would rather be home with friends and family.

For myself, I think Friday is soon enough, so I was happy to see Nordstrom's take on Thanksgiving.

I've always felt Nordstrom had class and this just confirms it.  Rather than get all caught up in consumerism, they stuck with opening on Black Friday.  Nice.

I'm glad to see some businesses coming out and supporting the holiday being a day off for everyone.  I wish more folks would stay home til Friday.

Good for Nordstrom's.  What they have done here is make a strong statement that is likely to positively resinate with many folks.  I can't understand why we simply don't move "Black Friday" up a week, to the Friday BEFORE Thanksgiving?  And, give the employees, and shoppers a day off on the holiday!

Bryan - It does seem to be classy and just gives a different feel to the whole consumer issue.

This is great. About time a major retailor stands up. Have a wonderful week.

Well done Nordstroms!  It's ridiculous how early the other stores are pushing the holidays down our throats!

Christine~ Nordstrom is A-OK in my book. I think it's terribly unfair to those employees who will have to work on Thursday evening because some mucky-muck decided they should be open.

Alan - Agreed.

Sharon - Because shopping can't wait another 8 or 12 hours???

Connie  - That's exactly right.

Donna  - They don't get a choice, and it's just wrong.
