Everyone has one. Sometimes you don't realize what it is. Everyone has a niche. Sometimes it is geographic. When asked about where I like to work, I am able to give pretty clear markers for the outer limits that I will travel. Some are time based. I can be reached almost all the time, but I know agents with very strict time frames where they will work.
Other niches are first time home buyers, Condos, Rentals, distressed sales. And some are combinations of all of these. What I am discussing today though, is buyers vs sellers.
Some say you should specialize in one or the other. Maybe. The way I see it is it depends on how long you have been in the business, and what you feel most comfortable with. I have watched the progression of many agents from new in the business working with rentals. Then as they progress these agents start taking on buyers. Then as they progress further they start listing.
Sometimes an agent will stop at rentals or buyers and say, I love this type client!, and they will build a great business there. Others will get to listings and decide, what in the world was I thinking? and stay with buyers.
I find that I like all of them, maybe not rentals as much, just the same. Some say buyers are great because they will buy more quickly than a seller will sell. Others don't like being out in a car all the time with buyers and prefer sellers for that reason. If I had to pick one over the other, I would probably list. But after spending this past Saturday trying to help a family find a home to buy, I realized again how much fun buyers can be.
So, I will not pigeon hole myself. If you are looking to buy OR sell, please give me a call.
