What ranks high on your list of priorities as a Post-50-Person?
Possibility. Especially in terms of lifestyle choices -- where and how we choose to dwell as time goes by. And how to get the word out about the benefits of “designed for all” homes before an injury or illness occurs. Information-good easy-to-digest information. Collaboration. Real stories. Real people. Doing it.
At The Sage Companion Project, we see life as an art form to be practiced with great compassion for self and others each day for so long as we are alive. In this, “personhood” is respected and enjoys equal status-and we understand that all of us are stakeholders. As stakeholders, with the current experience of aging in play, we emphasize self-empowerment as expressed in choices for Lifelong Homes (aging-in-place) Connections, and Learning, and Wellness on many levels.
Contributors to The Sage Companion Project are unique. We actually are “living the dream”- so the perspective is first person - from “elder” idea workers.
What is your vision with regard to “boomer consumer” influence?
Well! Imagine what we can do together to create positive change through shared findings, understandings, and meanings. We can dismiss aging stereotypes and Improve the quality of life for everybody. But here’s the challenge: We need to talk with each other about this. The Sage Companion Project advocates using talking points or practical guides plus an interactive element. It is especially exciting to realize that this is truer today than at any time in history given the huge number of Post-50 People and the smart use of our clout. And, I do believe, from the bottom of my heart, that we can modify ageist attitudes, and even dismiss outmoded stereotypes.
Could you give us a quick overview of the “Talking Points” and “Practical Guides” at The Sage Companion Project?
The A G I N G–I N-P L A C E S E R I E S is basically a HOW-TO guide - HOW TO Decide on your dwelling place: HOW TO Budget and make a Spending Plan: HOW TO Talk & Set Priorities with Family and Friends: HOW TO Plan, Organize, Schedule & Implement, and associated respect for personhood emerges.
The B O O M E R E F F E C T S E R I E S (www.WhiteHair365.com/babyboomers.html), which may be of particular interest to Boomer Authority™ members, wrangles with recognizing ageism, exploring how to counteract it , and how to call a shot on negative advertising. Some of it has to do with choices around how and where to spend money.
This is the thing: People can begin today to set up a “feathered nest” for as little as $5.00 a week! Really!
