As we head into the Holiday Season, I wanted to break away from the typical Real Estate "talk" to speak about something that is important. Every year, most of us get together and celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with our families and friends, partaking of a feast and perhaps watching some sports on TV. Maybe afterwards, we'll visit for awhile and enjoy some coffee, dessert and some stimulating conversation. Even some will brave the winter cold and head off to take advantage of the store sales that have made "Black Friday" a yearly phenomena. Or perhaps, you'll sit back on the couch or recliner and just moan from being overstuffed with just a little too much good food. No matter what you do this Thanksgiving, I hope it is memorable and enjoyable.
But for some of you, there may be a desire this year to do more. To help someone else or share with someone less fortunate. To make a difference. If that's your desire, there are many ways to do so. If you're looking to change someone's life this Thanksgiving and you're in the Southern California area, I'd like to tell you about one opportunity that is available to you.
Since 1944, the Fred Jordan Mission has been providing for the physical and spiritual needs of the poor and homeless. And every year, they shut down the streets, set up tables, and provide a huge Thanksgiving feast. But food is just a part of it. They also provide something better. This year, there will be great music and my own Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside will be bringing a life changing message from the Gospel to all who attend.
If you'd like to be a part of this great day, you can. First and foremost, you can pray. If you'd like to do a little more, you can donate to provide for the event. And if you'd really like to be blessed, you can show up, volunteer and serve. Either way, this years event will be awesome. And who doesn't like to be a part of something awesome?
No matter what you do this year, have a Happy Thanksgiving.
