Working the Feed the Need Food Drive
Friend, blogger and REALTOR Rebecca Gaujot reminds us that each of should get off our duffs and pay it forward to those in need of food. There is no better time than the present to do our part!
Working the Feed the Need Food Drive
We had a warm and sunny day for The 3rd Annual Greenbrier Valley Board of REALTORS® “Feed the Need” Food Drive. Suzanne Horst and I had our table ready Saturday morning at the entrance of Sav-A-Lot store in Fairlea, WV. A few blocks away, Robert Bittinger, Jr., was setting his table at K-Mart.
On this beautiful, warm and sunny day, Suzanne and I had a great time talking with folks as they entered and exited the Sav-A-Lot store. Many donated food items and some donated money.
A mother with two children brought can foods to our table. Both kids gave us a bag of food items and had big smiles on their faces. I said, "thank you and so do the children who will appreciate having food on their table."
One lady came out with a cart of food and said, "I didn't know what to get so I just went around the store and got an assortment of food". The best thing about this, besides the food, was she didn't live in the Greenbrier County, she was from Huntington, WV, and was visiting relatives. But wanted to help our local food banks.
Those were just a few of the stories, and there were many. Suzanne and I worked from 11:00 am til 3:00 pm. We collected over 200 cans of food and about $50 in cash donations.
Rebecca Gaujot, Coldwell Banker Stuart and Watts, and Suzanne Horst, Greenbrier Sporting Club, worked for the "Feed the Need" drive at Sav-A-Lot Store.
Robert Bittinger, Jr. Coldwell Banker Stuart and Watts, worked the "Feed the Need" drive at K-Mart.
During the month of November many other members of the GVBoR worked other locations for our "Feed the Need" drive.
This year’s food drive will end November 26th. We hope the communities and businesses will continue to participate and and support in the collection of non-perishable items, and/or cash donations. Please keep in mind that ALL DONATIONS STAY LOCAL! Your donations will be helping those within our neighborhoods and local communities!
Giving a little or a lot; it’s still giving! Giving what you can; it’s a small thing to do, but can have such a huge impact in someone’s life. And that my neighbor, is something to feel really good about!.
