30 Days to a better ME

I recently ran across an article entitled 30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself written by Marc Chernoff on his blog http://www.marcandangel.com/ .

After reading it I decided I would make a post each day in the next 30 day month, so this series began the first of November.  My thought I would break the list out to one a day and focus on that for each day.  If you missed the earlier posts, you can still catch them on my blog.

I also prefer to phrase things in the positive, so planned to take the DON’T and put it in the form of a DO.  However, as I began to start this “series” I found that the author had just posted a follow-up to the original article in the affirmative as I had planned, so I am sharing both the “DON’T” and the “DO”.

Stop trying to be everything to everyone.

Doing so is impossible, and trying will only burn you out.  But making one person smile CAN change the world.  Maybe not the whole world, but their world.  So narrow your focus.

from the DO list

Start actively nurturing your most important relationships.

Bring real, honest joy into your life and the lives of those you love by simply telling them how much they mean to you on a regular basis.  You can’t be everything to everyone, but you can be everything to a few people.  Decide who these people are in your life and treat them like royalty.  Remember, you don’t need a certain number of friends, just a number of friends you can be certain of.
