Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter - Home for the
Holidays Program
Just about 3 years ago, right in time for Thanksgiving, my family adopted a new dog from the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh. The story became one of my earliest ActiveRain posts and can be found here at Home For The Holidays. 
Annually, the animal shelter runs this program with free pet adoptions. This year, it's until January 5th, 2014. All pet adoption fees are waived, and vaccinations and microchipping, as well as free spaying and neutering, will be offered.
Additionally, coupons for free exams at Baldwin Harbor Animal Hospital, a grooming session at Jo-Mar Grooming in Floral Park and free obedience classes at the Dog Obedience Club of South Nassau will be handed out.
December 14th marks a planned event for residents and their adopted pets which will include Santa photos, raffles, a bake sale and hot chocolate.
