Monday Morning Gifts... perfect with your coffee :)

Good Morning....or should I say " Top o' the Mornin 'to ya "....yep, today is  St. Patrick's Day.  No, it wasn't over the week-end...it is always on March 17th, which is today :)  So today's Monday Gifts will be GREEN in honor of this fun Irish Holiday.

St. Patricks Day 2008                                                                   St. Patricks Day

My last name is McGraw.....so do you think I am Irish?  Yep, and my fathers name was Paddy :)  He changed it to Patrick because our Military told him no  man was named Paddy.....guess they'd never met an Irishman........

So, today is the day that we remember most as kids as the day that if we didn't wear GREEN that we'd be pinched :)  So, look around you at the kids....see how many of them are wearing green today.  Not that they know why they're wearing it....except they know that if they don't their friends will "pinch" them :).

Here  is a small History of wearing Green...a very condensed version for sure.

It started with England trying to curb a rebellion led by Irish Protestants in the 1700's. This group of Irishmen wore Shamrocks to identify themselves, sort of like our Rotary wears their pin to identify themselves. But the Queen of England outlawed the Shamrock, and if caught you could be hung for wearing it.

Many years later, when a Group of Irish Soldiers fought well for England in South Africa, the Queen rewarded them by allowing them to wear the shamrock on their caps.  This has now become a symbol of honoring the Irish. It started with Shamrocks, and this really is the most universal symbol, but it also includes anything green. And so today we wear Green to symbolize...........Fun, Parties, and anything Irish :) :)   Fairies always have fun :)

Having fun is the theme of the dayGift #1  The number 3 is lucky, but If you decide to look for a 4 leaf clover be prepared to be looking for a VERY long time :) :)

Gift #2    A little Shamrock Fun ... no reading involved, just in case you drank too much of that Green Beer last night :)   Enjoy.......The Shamrock Personality Test

Mornin' Audrey......"too much to pinch"  that's cute :)  I have a beaustiful green shirt for the day that matches my green eyes......and yes I used to try to say "but my eyes are green doesn't that count" ?  Never did but I tried :)

Misty- So many fun things for this day....and one of my favorite "Irish"  things is trying to find the end of the rainbow so I could find the pot-o-gold   :)

Suzzanne-You and Randy were gettin' kissed and Audrey, Charles, Nannette, the others and I were gettin pinched.....and they said "the luck of the Irish" hmmmmm :)there's something wrong with this picture LOL

Derrick-Now isn't that the truth....we can find just about anything here.....you have a good day, and I hope you're sportin a little green :)

Sally-Funny......I cannot even understand a thick Irish Accent.  I worked with many people from Ireland when I was overseas.  And if this Market was better for me right now I would be going to Dublin this summer to finish my CIPS Designation :)  enjoy your day off :)

Kathy, thank you for the history lesson.  I embarassed to say I either forgot that or never knew to begin with (I prefer to admit to the later).  I took that short personality quiz to, which says I like to speak my mind.  Go figure:-)  Happy St. Patty's Day.

Kathy, fun post. I remember those "pinching" days. We would show that we had a thread of green in our underware to get away from that pinch. Great fun!!!

I took the test too. Here's what it said. Way fun!!

You express yourself well - you are very verbal. You are good at perceiving the world and understanding people.

At times you can be moody and lack direction. You have an artist's temperament.

You consider yourself a lucky person. Luck always seems to be on your side.

You are traditional, easy going, and appreciative of the simple things in life.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Teri- First...I love how you changed your Lady in Red, to the Lady in Green...that is such great Marketing :)  Oh, I remember those "pinching" days too....and if you forgot to wear green, yep any little thing would be tried, even green eyes......(me).  Now to your test......sounds good to me, actually it sounds like me :)

Steve- Well, I just finished my dinner, and so by now you have already had happy hour :)  Hope it was fun....
