And They're Off!           Shopping Marathon

Black Friday has long felt as though it was the start of a several weeks long marathon. And it is of sorts.  It's the start of a month of marathon holiday shopping.  This year, Black Friday began early with "Brown" Thursday but today is the day.

The holiday shopping season has expanded to include cyber-Monday, and for the past 3 years or so, Small Business Saturday.  This is the weekend where shoppers are encouraged to shop at small businesses in their own communities and to patronize the small shops that dot the main streets near their own home.  Doing so helps keep the dollars in the neighborhood.  Small Business Saturday 2013 is tomorrow.

I still have favorite items that I purchased years ago at neighborhood vendors.  They were so unique that I've held on to them for years.  Take some time tomorrow to support local businesses in your neighborhood.  Small businesses keep neighborhoods strong.  When you support local business, you'll also be helping the vitality of your own neighborhood.

Supporting local business is very important.  It is by far the best thing to do to support your local community. More of your dollars stay in your community and this is good for many reasons, including home values in neighborhoods.

Hi Inna, thanks for visiting my blog.

Supporting local business is more important than ever as more and more mom and pop shops find themselves struggling to compete with the big box vendors and national chains.
