You may be surprised to learn all three of these noteworthy items share an important anniversary on November 29th.

1777 – San Jose, California, is founded as Pueblo de San José de Guadalupe. It is the first civilian settlement, or pueblo, in Alta California, not associated with a mission or a military post. Today, San Jose is the third-largest city in California and the tenth-largest in the United States.
1877 – Thomas Edison demonstrates his phonograph for the first time.
1929 – U.S. Admiral Richard Byrd becomes the first person to fly over the South Pole.
1944 – The first surgery (on a human) to correct blue baby syndrome is performed by Alfred Blalock and Vivien Thomas.
1961 – Project Mercury: Mercury-Atlas 5 Mission – Enos, a chimpanzee, is launched into space. The spacecraft orbited the Earth twice and splashed-down off the coast of Puerto Rico.
1963 – U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson establishes the Warren Commission to investigate the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
1972 – Atari announces the release of Pong, the first commercially successful video game. Allan Alcorn created Pong as a training exercise assigned to him by Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell.
While these interesting facts about San Jose, Calif., Thomas Edison and Atari’s Pong on November 29th, have nothing to do with my real estate business selling homes to families in San Jose, Cupertino and Saratoga in Silicon Valley, Calif., they sure do add fun and entertainment to life.
