What is This Year's "Must Buy" Tool, Appliance, Toy, or Gadget?

Not watching much TV does have its drawbacks. For instance, I don't know the answer to that. Had we driven to town on Sunday to get the newspaper, perhaps I'd have read all the ads and found out.

Not that I want to run out and buy whatever it is, but I'm curious.

Santa is happy with my Black Friday purchase

I recall one year when my secretary and her Mom did the "Be at WalMart to stand in line by 4 a.m." routine so they could buy bread makers. One year it was George Forman grills and another time it was sandwich makers. One year it was some kind of wrench - and then there was the twisty flashlight.

My neighbor who watches hours and hours of TV said that this year it's "Cuisine." I finally figured out that he meant the Cuisinart Griller - and that I DID buy for a bachelor on my list. Not because it's a cool gadget, but becase I know he'll use it. He wore out both his George Forman Grill and his sandwich maker.

In fact, it's my "Black Friday Buy." But I didn't stand in line or drive anywhere at all. I found it on line at Amazon for $20 less than at the other stores that came up when I Googled it. And then there was a little button under the price that said "get a coupon," so I clicked and got another $10 off - plus the shipping was free.

So, even though I couldn't talk anyone into going to Black Friday with me, I did end the day with a "bargain."

Fun.

Meanwhile, I'm still curious.

What IS this year's "must have?"

Marte, evidently we both watch about the same amount of TV as I dont' have a clue about "must buy" toys, tools or gadgets. My niece has told me that the newest smart phones are always in demand.

Hi Marte... I have to tell you that I love Amazon... I can't stand going to those crowded, waiting on line stores... I find everything I need and or want on Amazon, it's awesome... Have a great day

I',m not a "wait in line " kind of guy. Hurry up and wait is worse yet.

Nancy - It does seem like people have gone crazy over smart phones. I can see the need in your business - but for so many, it's just an expensive toy.

Richard & Beth - I have mixed feelings about Amazon, mostly due to their insistence on selling dog fighting videos, but they DO offer bargains.

Rob - Waiting in line is just not fun, especially when you get behind someone slow. Not long ago I got behind a woman with a full cart who announced to the cashier that "This is three separate transactions." I almost groaned out loud.

I think anything with an apple sign? Just kidding. I am not a fan of Black Friday sales too. The stress and aggravation aren't just worth it. Great find online Marte!

Patty - Thanks, I thought so. Especially since I'd already made up my mind to buy it at the price everyone was advertising.

I'm not a Black Friday shopper.  In fact, this year all my Christmas shopping was done by Thanksgiving.  I love shopping Amazon!

Sharon - I got most of mine done last week-end when my son and I went to "the city." But it's dangerous for me to shop so far ahead of time. I'm looking at what I bought and thinking I could have found something better...
