Holiday Celebrations In Arizona

Take a walk on the wild side through the Phoenix Zoo that has been transformed into Wildlife In Wild Lights.   This magical event features 3.7 million twinkling, dancing lights making it one of the largest holiday lights shows in the country.  You can enjoy this unique holiday celebration from 6 p.m.-10 p.m Sunday-Thursday, and 6 p.m. -midnight on Friday & Saturday, until January 12, 2014.

ZooLights has more than 700 glimmering light sculptures.  New this year--enjoy TWO different Music in Motion shows in Phoenix Zoolights 2013and around the lake – a dazzling light show like no other in the Valley! The new show will take you down the yellow brick road with music from the Wizard of Oz and due to popularity we are bringing back “Wizards in Winter” by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Music in Motion combines a dozen 12-foot tall floating light tubes, a 24-foot in diameter shimmering sphere and 52 trees all dancing to the beat of the music!

Although animal viewing is limited as most of the animals are sleeping, you will see zebra, otter, flamingos, watusi cattle and others in the animal kingdom that have more nocturnal habits.   As for the rest, you'll definitely see many of their likenesses lit up for your viewing enjoyment.

ZooLights features this year include:

  • Look for the Wizard of Oz’s tin man, cowardly lion, scarecrow and more than 20 flying monkeys hidden throughout the Zoo.
  • Luka, our playful Andean bear cub, makes a lighted appearance this year.
  • Alcoholic beverages available for purchase on Friday and Saturday nights!
  • 3.7 million total lights and more than 700 light displays
  • Jengo the talking giraffe
  • The Polar Slide* and Zip Line*
  • Stingray Bay*
  • Carousel*, camel rides*, wagon rides* and more!

Jengo the giraffe is one of the animals that likes staying up late and can't wait to see his many friends enjoying Wildlife in Wild Lights.  Each ticket purchase for ZooLights helps the Phoenix Zoo fund their educational programs, conservation projects and feed the animals.

You can purchase your tickets online for this memorable holiday event.

I love Zoolights events - they are so popular for families with young kids. I'm sure this is well attended each year. Happy December 1st - Tis the Season!
