I just read an article on-line talking about how the real estate market in Toronto is slowing down... and that in places like the Greater Toronto area have all but come to a screetching halt after severe storms hit the area. The article continuted to state that sellers would likely do well to wait until February before thinking about listing their homes.
After reading this article, you can see why I am so thankful that I live in Texas, where the real estate market is still going strong. Despite the fact that it's 80 degrees outside today and expected to be in the low 30's tomorrow - the weather could become a factor, but so far it hasn't been an issue. With the holidays in full swing and shoppers out late buying gifts at retail locations, that hasn't stopped home buyers in the Collin County area (just North of Dallas) from viewing homes and sending offers.
Last week, we listed a house late in the evening on Wednesday 11/27/13...even with Thanksgiving the next day I did receive a phone call from a Realtor (on Thanksgiving) asking how soon he could show the house. On Black Friday we had 11 showings and the house went under contract by Saturday night.
The low inventory levels, coupled with low interest rates and buyers who are relocating to the area, are keeping us in a strong sellers market here in the DFW Metroplex. So far, 2013 has been a good year for home buyers and sellers....and the trend is expected to continue into 2014. If you (or someone you know) is planning a move, our team of dedicated professionals would be happy to help. We offer free consultations to all of our clients to ensure that they understand the current real estate market and how best to proceed given their specific situation.
Happy Holidays!
