A man and his horse

Lots of love shows in this picture of a man with his horse.

Horses require lots of work, so I am told, and require lots of space and food.  I have always been afraid of horses.  I think you need to grow up with them to feel comfortable.  The one time I mounted a horse I was frantic and swore that if I ever got off the horse, I'd never get back on one.  I have been true to that promise.

Sleuths, do you know who the person is?

David, I know that you would not know.  Wrong state.  LOL

Jane, good comment about the horse and his owner.  You are also in the wrong state. LOL

Roy, he is not a Duncan.

Mary, we agree on horses.  I did not notice the iris and wonder why Grandma called them flags???

Barbara, Great photo! I haven't been around horses most of my life, I wouldn't mind getting one some day!

Here's a close-up if that helps anyone. The horse certainly looks like Trigger of Roy

Rodgers fame.

Tony and Darcy, getting a horse would be a HUGE project!  Good luck.

Don, thanks for the enlargement.  I can't believe the Searcy Sleuths don't know who this man is.  I think they are all out playing in the snow.

O.K Barbara. It's Dr. Porter Rodgers. Of course, his famous walking horse, Perfection, was more famous than he.

I didn't really think it was Rodgers. I don't know any other horse people in Searcy.

I have not be out playing in the snow! WHAT SNOW? We're iced in up to our elbows here in Greers Ferry....I can't even get to the mail box or paper box, NOT that I expect any mail or a paper. We're getting short on milk and eggs, o.k. on bread. I'm guessing Ray Yarnell. Send help. Just follow the yellow brick road.

He looks familiar to me but I cannot place him. We will probably all say "Of course" when you let us in on the secret.

Anita, we have the worst amount of ice that we have ever had!  It is just like an ice cube outside, slick as an ice cube too.  Valerie has received the listing on the house you checked on for her.  It is $199,000 and right on the lake so find a buyer.

Harold Gene, Mary has identified him.

Mary Dunn, good work!

Roy, he was thin which probably makes him look taller.

if Don had not enlarged the picture, I would have argued that it wasn't Ernest Salkeld but with the enlargement, I agree. I'll see what I can do about selling the house, but tell Valerie not to hold her breath.

Anita, good searching.  He had a really nice rock house at that address.  He had added on at one point but you could not tell where because the rock all matched perfectly.  They were a nice family.

Sadly, the newspaper today has an obituary.  Ernest Harding Salkeld has passed on so our picture of him with his horse is almost like a memorial to him.  The online guestbook is www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.
