I just wanted to post a short note to honor our brave men and women who put their lives in harm's way every day to protect and serve our country. On this 72nd anniversary of Pearl Harbor it is important to never forget but to also forgive. Learn from our past and try not to repeat our mistakes.
I also wanted to acknowledge the passing two days ago of Nelson Mandela. One of his famous quotes has always provided me hope for the future. It also shows that hate can be hereditary and we need to be aware of even the smallest shortcomings we have when they are displayed in front of our children.
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” - Nelson Mandela, Long Walk To Freedom
Try to remember:
1. We all make the best decisions we can based on how we see things in the world and our personal resources.
2. If you understand someone else's perspective, it is easier to frame your message to let them understand your perspective.
3. You can disagree. It's OK.
May you have a holiday season filled with peace.
