Let me give you a little history about myself first! I've owned both a Disc Jockey company and a courier service in my time before I joined the world of real estate. Since then I have never owned a map book or a GPS unit, I just thought it was a waste of money. With my past experience, I knew where everything was, I didn't need it.

But, every once in awhile, I would have a client get in the car and ask how come I didn't have a GPS unit, since they were so inexpensive now! I would always tell them of my time as the owner of a courier company and they would say, "OH, so you really just don't need it?"

Well, I've finally stopped those questions and found a GPS unit that was at a price I could justify and I no longer have to tell my clients the story of why I don't own a GPS unit. You can pick yours up at any Toys ‘R Us science department for around $9.99 and the Velcro was only $1.29! It works really well and I can tell you exactly where I am on the thing every time!

ha! I love it!  I was waiting to read some really technical piece about the GPS unit that I should own but don't.  What a pleasure to read your post!  Thank you for the chuckle.

LOL, That's great, however, I think asking the good ole gas attendant is cheaper than that fancy smancy GPS system of yours...:-)

Congrats to you...and great photo. It's a little more difficult for an agent who keeps reinventing themselves by moving. I swore to my husband that THIS move was the last. Easy decision for him as it's exactly where he wanted to be [move back to]. San Ramon, CA is "home" for us. The kids went to middle and high school here. However, after a bit away, there are many new streets to contend with. I do use a GPS and can't say I'm really proud of it, but it beats driving around in circles. I will say that I am inherently directionally challenged, so perhaps I'll still use a compass when the GPS reliance wanes.

LMAO... Todd, that is hilarious.  Navigation should definitely not be an issue now... morning showings in Beaverton, afternoon showings in Bangkok.  No problem!

i love a man with a sense of humor - no you can tell them that you`ll circumnavigate the globe for them.......!

I think you got ripped off on the velcro. Last time I used a Gps it took me through the desert where a road was supposed to be. I ended up with a flat and a dilemma of go back for another flat or forward for two.

The globe is never wrong.

Todd - Thanks for the laugh.  I will go get mine installed today.  The only sense of direction I have is up and down, I am pretty accurate there.

Todd - I love your humor but I must admit that I have navigation on my cell phone and I love it. Since I go all over the state I do not know every road and I hate to get lost with customres following me:)

Hi Todd,
Your sense of humor is great.  As for me, I not only need to see where I am but somebody needs to lead me to where I'm going at times.  :0)

You are so funny! I live by my onboard navigation. I loaded up an entire family into my car after an open house once to go see another property with them. I plugged in the address and off we went only to discover the house was around the corner and in the opposite yard behind the open house I'd just left! We all laughed so hard at that.

That's cute!!  But seriously, I got a Garmin GPS yesterday, and used it today.  THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!   All those times I opened a map to never find the road, so I WOULD EVENTUALLY HAVE TO ASK FOR DIRECTIONS.  NEVER AGAIN......... I even downloaded the latest updates.  I'm so glad and thankful, I got one.  THEY ACTUALLY TALK TO YOU.... EVEN WHEN YOU MAKE THE WRONG TURN...  IT'S MY BEST FRIEND NOW!!!

My 4 yr old Garmin just died(I dropped it on really hard ground) and the warranty has ran out.  I was so lost today taking clients around Los Angeles that I had to follow them since they had a GPS in their car. Tha'ts embarrassing!! Now I can stop my research on the best Garmin model to get and buy your toys r us  model!!  You are too funny !!

Funny post. I was feeling embarrassed about being geographically challenged until recently when a very successful Realtor confided that he had a similar problem. I guess I'm not the only one who wouldn't want to part with their GPS.

Jesse - Nope, not a problem for me, we are right there on the map!

Linda - I'm glad you enjoy, guess what it even has Dallas / Fort Worth on here.

Brian - It really does since I leave it behind their seat and then look at the MLS printout and say "OK, let me pull out the 'ol GPS and we can get going" then pull a globe out and place it on the dash... It really sets the mood!
