Reviews Mean Everything.

There used to be a time when getting online afforded you anonymity and now he internet has swung back the opposite direction and it's not uncommon to find whole volumes about real estate agents and local lenders online.  Real estate agents that I meet with on a regular basis are consistently telling me that they struggle with maintaining their online presence and dealing with their social media accounts, if using them at all.

We all have issues with this in some ways - we want people to see that we are good at our jobs, professional and have great customer service and getting that stuff online multiplies their effectiveness! However, there are times when something out of control happens and someone ends up with a bad idea about how we do business, and yes, that stinks but there are ways you can avoid the pain of this (especially in the online environment.) Just for you I thought I'd offer a few tips on ways you can you manage your online presence.

  1. Reviews Mean Everything!
    • If you aren't familiar with what Google is doing to modify it's search results then here's a short primer: Google is looking for social proof to boost your rankings.  So, what's being said about you business in reviews, rankings and other social media outlets factors into the results that Google shows us.  Most predominantly Google+ and Google Local.  Google will always show results that boost their own reputation (and their own stuff) so get a Google Local page for your real estate business and then ask people to write reviews on that page.  Google will use these reviews to give your business page a bump up in their rankings and you should see more online referrals because of it!
  2. Don't sweat when you get a bad review.
    • This is exactly what I mentioned earlier, you can't always win.  Sometime customers are simply looking for wrong-doing in every step.  So when you do get a bad review or ranking - try to get more positive ones to cover up the bad ones.  One bad review won't kill your business when you've got 50 that say you've done a great job. (of course if you get thousands of bad reviews, well, then see if you can get millions of positive reviews!)

Those are just 2 of my top tips for managing your online presence - if you'd like to know more about social proof and social media marketing - just let me know and remember Reviews Mean Everything!
