Things to Do in Alameda: Redux Open Studio, Friday, December 13 from 6:00 to 11:00 pm at 2513 Lincoln Avenue featuring fabric paintings by Bunnie Reiss.  The show will run to February 9, 2014.

 

 

 

The 43rd Annual Alameda Holiday Home Tour & Holiday Tea will be on Saturday, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm on December 14, 2013.  Five homes will be on the tour.  Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 on the day of the tour.  Free Shuttle and parking  will be provided at Encinal Yacht Club.  A Gourmet Shop and Holiday Artisan Boutique is free to the public is at the Alameda Elks Lodge at 2255 Santa Clara Avenue. The tour will benefit the Alameda Family Service will serves 800 families and 3,000 people in 2012/2013.  Please call 510-629-6208 for information and tickets.

Things to do in Alameda:  The Little Ice Rink is at South Shore Center in Alameda through January 20, 2014. The rink will be open Mondays through Thursdays, 3 to 10 p.m., and Fridays through Sundays, noon to 10 p.m. Admission is $15 for ages 9 and up, $10 for ages 8 and under, with a discount if you furnish your own skates.  For more information please call 510-629-1432.

Things to do in Alameda:  The Alameda’s Farmer’s Market is open to the public Saturday, December 14 and Tuesday, December 17 morning from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, rain or shine.  All the winter fruits and vegetables are available at great prices.  So good.  Don’t miss the opportunity to shop for delectable fruits and vegetables.  The market is at Webster Street and Haight Avenue.

 

 

Things to do in Alameda: Alameda South Shore Center and Off the Grid are back with more food trucks on December 14, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the South Shore Center parking lot near Petco.  The trucks include Hapa SF, The Chairman, KoJa Kitchen, An the Go, Whip Out! Bacon Bacon, SAJJ, Mayo & Mustard and Frozen Kuhsterd.

Things to Do in Alameda:  Saturday, December 14 at 12 Noon at Ploughshares Nursery  manager Jeff Bridges will present a free workshop on the property care of living Christmas trees and how to troubleshoot houseplants.  Living Christmas trees will be on sale and if you buy one five gallon Soquel Redwood Tree you will get one tree free while supplies last.  Ploughshares Nursery will be closed for the Holidays from December 21 to January 3.

12:30pm  Julie's Coffee & Tea Garden 1223 Park Street

2:30pm  Alameda Bicycle 1522 Park Street

3:30pm  McGee's Bar & Grill 1645 Park Street

 

Things to Do in Alameda: Sing it Yourself Messiah on Saturday, December 14 at 4:00 pm.  This will be the 19th annual community performance.  Free to the public at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 1420 Lafayette Street in Alameda.  Please call 510-865-7962 for more information.  

 

Things to do in Alameda:  Crab Cove for Family Nature Fun featuring  “Low Tide Exploration” on Saturday, December 14, at 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm,  Please call 510-544-3187 for more information.

Things to Do in Alameda: Visit Santa on Saturday, December 14 and Sunday December 15, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Christmas Tree Lane on Thompson Avenue.  People on Thompson Avenue have gone all out to decorate their home.  It is a beautiful sight.  You can visit Santa from now to December 23, 2013.

Mark your calendars for these great events:

 

Hikes for Tykes on Tuesday, December 17 at 10:30 to 11:30 am.  Join a Crab Cove Naturalist for a walk with pre-schoolers.  Bring a snack.  Strollers not recommended.  The walks average one mile.  Rain cancels the walk. Evelyn - There are so many fun things to do in the Alameda area.  I hope residents take advantage seasonal ice skating activity in the area!
