Know how to blow correctly? Desert Sun Home Inspections Carlsbad, N.M.
How many people know how to blow correctly?
There are a lot of people who try it, but very few actually get it right.
The level...Now let's back up a bit.
I am talking about the way that insulation is blown in an attic. Whew, glad I cleared that up.
I have been finding more and more homes without the proper damming of the areas in the attic that need to be.
The manufacturer of the blown insulation clearly states that damming of areas around recessed lighting and accesses need to be done.
Some manufacturers require no damming for the recessed lighting. Read the directions.
Some manufacturers even have graphics to illustrate the importance of such damming practices.
But this seems to not have helped the installers. Either they don't know how to read or they just don't care about installing the insulation in the attic's as intended for a proper installation.
Take a look at the way the insulation was blown in around this furnace.
The furnace pan has a lot of insulation in it.
This means that if the pan is ever needed as intended the pans drain would plug almost immediatly causing the pan to over flow and cause a lot of interior damage to the home.
This area should have been a raised area or the area should have been dammed off from the insulation getting into the pan.
Again, where was the JHA'S when this area was left like this.
My guess it was never inspected.Take a look at the uneveness of the insulation in this next shot.
Not only the insulation level was bad, but the access from the garage area was never dammed off.
So each time you enter the attic and exit you knock down insulation. There needs to be a little more attention to datail. But the builder is the one who needs to do this. Unless they want Desert Sun Home inspections to give the home a pre sale inspection.
Then these issues could be addressed and the home would be ready for sale. With no issues.
This is why you always get a "Home Inspection" by a certified inspector. For the peace of mind.
