This is a very good posting - I know I have never heard of such a thing happening before in my life time and a pray should go out to all the people that where lost.  Thanks for the good reminder.

Unbelievable.  Don't you hear more and more of unusual happenings in the world everywhere.  Scary, isn't it???  Thanks for reminding us all of the loss in NYC. 

What a terrible accident that was, I feel so sorry for the people who died and their families.

Well, the bridge collapse was worse I suppose. But You are right , you never hardly hear of anything like this. My prayers also go out to them.

It will probably come out that someone didn't do their job properly.  It may not have caused the accident but contributed to it.  More prayers.

The most recent info that has come out is not good.  First of all, it is my opinion that most of the cause is human error.  The Riggers that where "jumping" the crane, that is pushing it up higher, may have used insufficient capacity slings to support a 6 ton pieces (12,000#), and it broke away and slid down the tower section and took out the lower bracing members.  Second, I read today that a NYC Building Inspector has been arrested for "false documents", he reported that he inspected the crane, but actually never did.

Many changes is store for the Cranes and Derricks Div. in the NYC Building Dept. I would imagine.
