We are putting together an updated list of the best local pet parks and beaches across the country to share with Pet Friendly people.   If your town or city has a pet park or beach, please let us know.  You can email it to molly@petrealtynetwork.com or just post it as a comment here.  Please include the name of the park or beach, city, state, and address if possible.

We think it would be great to make this list different, and more personal, than the others out there.  If you submit a park or beach you can also include photos of your pet visiting the park and any additional information you think will be important - or just fun - to share.

Like our Pimms and Friends Photo Gallery, if you submit a pet park or beach in your City (or one that you have visited in another City) and you are a Pet Realty Network Member, we will have a "courtesy of..." link directing Visitors back to your Pet Realty Network "Bio" page - another way to get more exposure as a Pet Realty Network Pet Friendly Real Estate Professional!

Anyone can submit their favorite pet park or beach.  You do not have to be a Member of The Pet Realty Network.

One designated pet park in Charleston, SC that I can think of is part of James Island County Park.  There is a gate admission, if you don't have a season pass, of $1 per person.  It's address is 871 Riverland Drive, James Island SC 29412.

During the off season, all of our beaches are a grerat place to share with your pets.  During the peak season, dogs are not allowed on any area beaches during the hours of 10am and 6pm.  Over the last few years there's been a stink over people being on the beach and having a strange dog run up to them.  It's sad that they didn't just instill a leash law during those hours, but it's sometimes too hot for a dog anyway during those peak hours.

Molly - here are a couple of links.  One is the official city of Seattle Park's website listing the off-leash dog parks within the city.  The Magnuson Park location is on the shores of Lake Washington and is probably the largest park and includes a dog beach area.

This link is for the non-profit Citizens for Off-Leash Areas who maintain the parks.

Wilmington NC Dog Park
Park Ave. at Independence Blvd., Wilmington

(910) 341-7855

It's a doggie (and doggie owner) dream come true. The recently opened Wilmington Dog Park is a first for the city and offers 2 acres of fenced open space for Fido to run, play, chase the ball and socialize with other canines. There are even benches for humans to sit and relax. This off-leash park, adjacent to Empie Park, has two separate areas, one for dogs under 20 pounds and another for bigger dogs. Pet waste stations with clean-up bags and containers are provided, as are water stations for rinsing off muddy paws. Ample parking is available. pw 9-11-06

Carolina Beach & Kure Beach NC

Gurney Hood Barking Lot
K Ave. at Seventh St., Kure Beach

(910) 458-2976

The Gurney Hood Barking Lot is a fenced pooch-play area adjacent to Joe Eakes Park in Kure Beach. Sandy soil, trees, play equipment, Frisbees, balls and other doggie amenities make this a fun place for your pet. Water is available, a couple of benches are provided, and clean-up bags and trash containers are supplied so you can be a responsible pet handler. An especially good feature is a fenced entry area for holding your dog until you're ready to go into the main play area. Latches on both gates prevent your pup from accidentally getting loose outside the Barking Lot. pw 9-11-06

We went down to San Diego on one of our weekend get aways and decided to go to Point Loma beach.  We ran into a Doggie beach but we didn't have our family with us.  So the next time we went down was to buy tickets to the Charger/Dallas Cowboy game and we took our family with us.  Our family now since our kids are grown and moved out are our four mini dachshunds.  When we got to the doggie beach, they didn't know what to do, they have never experienced the beach before.  Below are some pictures.

Hi Molly, we have three county run dog parks.   They are:

Wickham Park Dog Park - Melbourne FL

Lori Wilson Park Dog Park - Cocoa Beach FL

Palm Bay Regional Park Dog Park - Palm Bay FL

Unfortunately due to the recent property tax cuts here in Brevard County, all three dog parks will probably close Sept. 30.

Terry Haugen - STAGE it RIGHT!

Molly, I'll definitely send you the links. I'm in the process of getting information put up on all of them, where they are in relation to popular planned communities and the like. Here's a pic of our daschund, Angus:

Jacqulyn:  Angus is SO SWEET.  Is he a new addition?  I don't see him on the Pimms photo gallery yet.  Do you want me to put him up?   Once you have the info on your parks, you can put them up directly on Your Pet Friendly Community, in Nevada.  Thanks!!

Terry: that is really unfortunate about your parks in Brevard.  Is there anything that pet owners can do?
