Learning is the easy part, consistency is the hard part

By
Real Estate Agent with Wayne M Martin

Learning is the easy part, consistency is the hard part. Learning to do something can be difficult. Applying what you have learned and making it a consistent part of your normal routine is even more difficult.

One area that needs constant attention is the art of listening. The affirmation for me needing constant review: "Listening without making judgment is active listening!" So easy too say and so hard to follow! Enjoy your day!

You got that one right Wayne.  I like so many others have formulated an answer and speaking before the question is complete.  Just a habit for me.

Good morning, Wayne. I echo what James said. I am currently reading a book entitled "The Compound Effect". Very interesting read.

One thing I can honestly say is that I'm a good listener.  At times it pisses people off because I remember what they actually said.  Listening has helped greatly in my business though.

Not a great listener yet! Tendency to formulate the reply too quickly. Getting better, but do have relapses! Enjoy your day!

I agree with most of the comments above.  Keeping the brain listening is hard when it automatically tries to work on a response.

Wayne, It is a constant exercise on improvement. With each year I get better but still have a way to go.

Wayne... that's always the issue... not finding out or learning about something, but applying it and then doing it consistently. We're all guilty of this to some degree.

Hi Wayne.

I am a good listener. I need to be because the concerns of the buyers weigh heavily in the way I inspect a home.

Have a nice day in Fort Myers my friend.

Best, Clint McKie

Good Morning Wayne,

I agree, learning is one thing; applying what you learned consistently is even harder. I guess that's the reason why in our profession Realtors are required to have on-going education. However, as you say, just because you take a class, doesn't mean you can claim it on your profile that you are knowledgeable and experienced if the skill learned was never applied !

Wayne ...I know that why we have two ears ...but we tend to talk more than we listen sometimes ....it's something we all can work on.

Have a great day in FL!

Hello Wayne,

Learning should be a never-ending task - and learning how to use that knowledge is as important as the knowledge!

Consistency can be challenging . . . . but it's also the pathway to success.

Good luck and success.

Hi Wayne.  In sales it how much you listened rather than how much you said.
