Home Staging Advice-What Makes a Good Home Stager?

When you decide it's time to put your Montgomery County PA house on the market, it won't be the last decision you have to make when it comes to selling your home. You need to find someone to market it, get it sold. Finding a good real estate agent is an essential part of the home selling process. It's good that you and your agent mesh well, see eye to eye and above all else, they can show you they'll be successful in the job. The same goes for hiring a home stager. You don't want just any Joe or Jane in the home staging business. Not sure what to look for? Follow this home staging advice on what makes a good home stager.

Personality

When you talk to someone on the phone, you usually know within the first couple of minutes if you'll get along with them. Some people prefer someone with a relaxed attitude, but still professional. Some people want a strict business personality. You'll know as the conversation goes on if you'll be a good fit for each other. A good home stager will make you feel comfortable with them and their abilities to do the job.

A Good Listener

What Makes a Good Home Stager-A good ListenerHow can a home stager help you if they don't know what kind of situation you're in? Just like with real estate agents, it helps to know what we're walking into so we can be prepared. A good home stager will ask about your time line of when you're looking to put your house on the market. They'll ask about your house; how many floors, how long have you lived there, vacant or furnished, etc. The more we know about your problems, the better we can help you.

Proof

"The proof is in the pudding". Take a look at their online presence. Do they have pictures of the work they've done? Do the staged rooms look appealing? Is their website informative? These are questions you should ask yourself when doing the research for your future home stager.

Recommendations

A good home stager will come with recommendations from past clients that they've worked with.  When someone you know recommends a person, it means they were happy with the work they did. If they were bad at their job, you know you'd hear that too.

Remember these factors when asking yourself "What makes a good home stager?" Doing your due diligence now can save you a lot of aggravation later.

I think those are all good methods to prove the worth of a good home stager. I know I have seen your photos and know you look out for your clients and help watch their pocketbooks.

Suzanne- Great points for what to look for.  I love the "listening" one because you're right.. we have to really "hear" what our clients are saying.

Suzanne:  The art of "listening" is vastly under-rated.  You learn and gain so much when you truly listen .. and in turn, so do your clients as a result ...

Many years ago, I became a "commitment to listening". Not always easy, but so important to doing what is right and necessary to do what is right for your client.

Listening is so important Kathy.

So true Gene.

It is Maureen! Some people don't realize that until it's too late.

I agree Joe. There are times where I want to jump in but I have to catch myself.

Thank you Bob! :) That's the best thing about AR. You get to know someone, even without actually meeting them.
