What's in store for Real Estate and Technology for 2014?
In my opinion, I see real estate and technology for 2014 a synergistic connection, a natural relationship that just "clicks" and I see it continuing to be more powerful than ever. Technology is changing every day and being an agent in Real Estate, it is a must for us to keep up with the pace. For those who fall behind, well.....they will be left behind.
Social media is going to continue to grow with FaceBook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and any others that come out in 2014 that hit the internet running. YouTube will become more important as it allows buyers who don't current live in an area or even know much about an area, to purchase a home site unseen. YouTube is already important, but I think with video is going to be even more important in years to come.
Smart Phones are a must these days and with all of the advancements in phones today I can only imagine what next year will hold for those little devices that are now hand-held computers. I'm personally going to be purchasing a Samsung Note as it is pretty much a phone and a tablet in one and I can do mostly anything I need for my business on it.
Mobile apps are one of the most important items that technology has to offer and having your OWN app for your clients to search for homes is a necessity otherwise you may loose those clients. Our company, Keller Williams, allows each agent the opportunity to have your own mobile app.
Google glasses/wearable technology is up and coming and I think will become a very big deal in 2014. With as much as we are on-the-go, wearable technology is a much needed piece to the pie and you will be seeing it more and more in the near future.
Google NOW is going to become another app that will be something to keep an eye out for. Trulia is the only company right now using it, but I foresee it being a huge opportunity for people to easily search for nearby homes for sale or anything else that is nearby a home they like so people can see what is around the area.
Continuing to be up-to-date with all types of technology is going to always be important in real estate, especially as the world of technology continues to advance. At times its a lot to keep up with everything so I say pick one and start with that and then move to another one. You won't learn it all in one day, but you've got to start somewhere.
