•1.                  You sold my home too fast!

•2.                  I don't think you need the money.  You are too well dressed and your car is too fancy.

•3.                  I think you are overpaid.  You only spent three days with us.  We decided to negotiate directly with the Sellers.

•4.                  It took you too long to bring me an offer.

•5.                  We are not making enough money from the sale and think you should cut your commission.

•6.                  We don't like the picture of our home you posted on the cover of that magazine.

•7.                  You inconvenienced us by showing the home too many times.

•8.                  The Buyers' offer was too low.  Even though we accepted, you should have gotten a higher offer.

•9.                  We don't like the couple you sold our home to.

Now it's your turn!  We need more reasons why we are not owed a commission.

10. It took too long for you to sell my home so I don't owe you a commission.

Just my humble opinion but I would rather focus on why I SHOULD get that commission!!!

I have never had a client tell me that I didn't deserve the commission and I'd tell them to bite me if they did.

Mirela, is reading this supposed to make someone want to hire you?  I understand your frustration (three posts and counting?), but I suggest taking advantage of the "members only" option to avoid turning off prospective clients.  The first two posts referenced a specific incident, but this one is just another Realtor rant.

03/17/2008 11:31 PM by Frank Jewett (tech4REpros)

Good advice, Frank.  Actually, I am honored that you noticed the fact that I wrote three posts.  I have a very strong following and I like being transparent.  This was a very isolated incident.  I guess you could say that I am dealing with it by blogging about it.  The first blog was painful.  The second one I already felt better.  The third one was poking fun at the situation.

I have nothing to hide.  I am in the top 1% of the agents here.  I have a great reputation of being ethical and correct.  My ex-husband, who is a very successful developer here used to say:  "You will always have that 10% of the clients who will never be happy with anything you do, no matter how hard you try to satisfy them.  They will be unhappy with anyone's services.  They are unhappy with life."   Luckily it is less than 1% for me, but the saying still stands...

I appreciate the advice, Frank!  I don't mind being transparent.  I like poking fun at it.  Judging by the comments, other agents are enjoying it too.

Stuff happens!  How we deal with it makes all the difference.  In the end, writing and laughing about it, is a heck of a lot healthier than "drinking about it"...

Thank you, Frank, for noticing my blogs!  Thank you for reading!  I promise I'm all done with this rant!

Frank, this is awesome!  I've been trying to make the Google front page for some time now.  I followed your link and much to my surprise, there I was!  Front page on Google under Myrtle Beach Real Estate agents commissions!  Wow!  Front page on Google!  Imagine that!  I try like heck to get there with lovely posts about the market, and I make it there finally with a rant!  I should rant more often...

Thanks for the link, Frank!  AR is Googleishous!

Your forgot "since it was another agent in your office, you should cut it in half - I'm not paying your broker twice."

ITs' only land, there was no house to show and so you should only get 2% commission was my all time favorite.

Those are all good ones.  Thank you guys!

How about this one:

'You didn't sell the house...my staging it myself with stratigically placed Roosters, after reading Staging For Dummies', is what got it sold!'

It is a sad state of affairs when a Realtor is damned if they sell it too fast (is that even possible?!) or it doesn't sell quick enough.

Mirela,

How professional of you in your response to the negative comment. Most folks would have lunged forward and struck out with both guns firing. It is so very refreshing to see someone take a deep breath and verbally disarm the assailant, in such a professional manner. And yes I know how disturbed you must have felt after reading it.

Now in response to your blog...."How hard can it be? All you Realtors® do is put a sign up in the front yard and sit back and wait for your commission check!"

03/18/2008 06:10 PM by Kerry "Ski" Polakowski (Century 21 Home & Investment Center)

Kerry:  thank you for noticing!  I think it was well intended though, so I really didn't take any offense to it.  I was actually very excited about making first page on Google and thankful for the link.

...Yes, that's all we do...  put signs in front of houses and they sell themselves!  The secret is finally out.

I like Amanda's answer but then again I usually seem to agree with Amanda

I've never been in this position because I never allow the conversation to progress.

Yeah, I know.  I was so disappointed by this Buyer.  I liked her a lot and I was so surprised by her actions.  It saddened me to have such a bad surprise.

I wrote the first blog to clear my head.  The second one was written as a short version (I didn't think the long version would get many hits).  The third blog was sheer entertainment, just laughing at the situation, which is what I always try to do with anything negative.

I never expected the blogs to have the kind of responses they've had.  I must have scratched a raw nerve here...

My favorite is #5! It's OUR fault you're not netting enough from the sale? Who told you to take out 2 mortgages and run up the credit cards?

I love Erica's comment....Great one! Don't you just love it when they claim to not have enough to pay us to get THEM out the mess THEY created...you go girl!
