Fotos On The Fly - Sights of the Season - Winter tree in a winter sky...

Winter Tree With Winter SkySometimes the sights of the season reflect the cold of winter.  We are now near the solstice so the trees are all bare  and the sun sets early. I took this photo today just as the sun was starting to set.  The cloud cover over the horizon was thick and the cause of the darkness.  It just looked so dramatic against the bare tree, that I had to shoot it.  Yesterday we had a rather large snowstorm, but the temperature increase had melted the snow off the tree tops and all that was left were the bare branches.

Wow...love the contrast of the evening sky and the snow caped tree limbs, Ruthmarie.  It was so good to see you at Vintology and in person at last, you photo rock star.  What an eye...Happy Merry Happy and look forward to many more great images in 2014!

Hi Hillary - it was a bit somber for the holiday season, but it IS the dead of winter! It was good meeting you at Vintology. I will be having an art show in April. I had photos up briefly during the fall - but no bites.  People in Scarsdale like color...I had a lot of B&W up.

Hi Ruthmarie, Striking. I love taking photos outside as the Sun has set and the radiant blue of the sky is captured.

Hi William - It was an interesting shot to take. For some reason there was a ton of cloud cover coming in over the Hudson and the tree was in the background.  The sun was starting to set as well. I thought it was kind of dramatic.

Nice shot, Ruthmarie. Wow, that tree and background look so ominous.
