If you are a Cuban citizen, not only can you now be a Real Estate Agent in Cuba, now those real estate agents can drive around in new cars. Yes, Cuban citizens are now allowed to buy a new car. Wow - what great progress they're making!
Until now ordinary Cuban citizens were not allowed to buy new cars. Permission to buy a new car was issued by the state. Usually only communist party officials, foreign business people, or citizens they wanted to "reward" were granted the right to buy a new car. Cuban citizen were only allowed to buy used cars among themselves.
If a Cuban wants to buy a new car, they can only buy it from the state, forget shopping around. Owning a new car dealership - not allowed yet!
Control, control, control those are the key word in Cuba, and I guess in every communist country. Could you imagine living under so much repression, that even if you had the money to buy a house or a car you were not allowed, just because someone said so - period.
We are so blessed in this country!
