High bank waterfront

So this most recent photo shoot I was on was an older home sitting on a .93 Acre lot high above the Pacific Ocean. The house itself isn't what's going to sell the property, the property is what's going to sell it!

Although I really liked the interior and had fun shooting it, the Realtor was looking for more property and scenic views than interior.

It was a challenging shoot. Why? Because we are just on the verge of Spring...here in beautiful British Columbia we are still very much soaked in rain and grey/white skies. It makes getting those blue sky, blue water money shots challenging.

The interior is very warm and rich with wood. I actually went back later in the evening to get some sunset shots and what a difference the evening sun made on the wood. Beautiful!

Luckily the homeowner had a few summer shots to add to the presentation, as well as one interior shot. I don't usually like to add other people's photos to my projects, as the quality, lighting and resolution aren't usually the same as mine, but for the purpose of selling this particular house, it was necessary.

I created a single property website for this home. Check it out at www.713geddes.com

I also produce interactive 360° virtual tours which suite some properties better than others.

I'm including one of the Realtors kitchen photos and one of mine...just in case there are still sceptics out there that can't see the value of hiring a real estate photographer. More of my work can been seen at www.lindasabiston.com or at www.firstimpressionphotos.com

Linda - You are right, adding the beautiful view through the window really makes that a much better photo shot. Good luck selling the home.

It does look a lot better.  Most agents don't like to go back and redo photos once they are gone.

I don't just enjoy going against the gain, but I like the composure or the first photo better and I really don't mind the blown out window.  It seems a little more natural to me.  I've been a fan of HDR and often use blended photos, but I'm starting to lean back towards less post processing.  I know I'm in the minority and only offer this as my opinion.

Thank you for the comments.

I guess the thing that bothers me most about the first image is that there is an outstanding view out that window for all to see. And the walls. Walls are vertical.

I have only taken my image into photoshop for a shadow/highlight adjustment as well as correcting the perspective. I'd like to try HDR sometime.

Both pics are great by the standards that most agent use when taking pictures of properties...  But, of course I love the one with the view it brings life to the still.  Great job.

Linda - I'm with you on this, your shot of the kitchen shows more of how the kitchen is laid out.  Women buy the house, men just pay for them, when a woman walks into a house, the kitchen is very often the 1st place they really visit. Your picture shows her her view out the window, The kitchen's not full of clutter, its very neat, its well laid out, a great place to serve up a great dinner.  I might have staged the table a little bit - perhaps a couple of place settings with wine glasses, buts thats just me.  Your shot will make her want to go see that kitchen, and maybe make her husband buy the house.  Good work!

I like the second photos colors.  The view looks kind of distracting though.  Thats just my opinion.  Great photo though.  2nd one.

Your work is very impressive. One can tell that you are an artist and your art is photography

this looks like a peaceful place to prepare and have breakfast...some elements resemble my dream kitchen.
