Are you staying open for business over the Holidays?

For those sellers who think they should take their homes off the market during the Christmas Holidays, the answer is plain "no". Buyers are out there looking right now, and these buyers are serious about their quest. This is the time that many people are reevaluating 2013, and are ready to start looking for the home of their dreams for 2014.

Today, I heard from buyers from the east coast who have been considering moving to California. It was nothing specific that triggered it, they had been thinking about it for quite some time. But they were taking a mental break, and relocating was top of their list of what they wanted to do.

So even though many real estate agents are taking time out for Holiday activities, they should pay attention to those who come asking for information at this time of the year. I know I am.

Nope, Christmas is a family day and someone else can have that business if they want it. I've been there and done that and I won't be doing it again.

William: Wow, I am hoping that Santa will come down the chimney at my house. He'd have to be pretty skinny, but I'm sure he's worked that out.

Tammy: I don't really expect anyone to call me on Christmas Day, but if they do, they will hear a "Merry Christmas" greeting from me.

I do plan to travel, but I have a cell phone and a laptop and a great office to help me out. I'm open for business. I also have one under contract set to close just after the new year...I will be working. But a break on Christmas would be nice.

Although I runamuck over the Holidays, I always have my cellphone, laptop, and iPad for a hotspot connection, so I can stay connected if I so choose. It's amazing how much business one can generate by simply leaving town. And for those who cry out: but you're on vacation -- hey, it's 15 minutes of time, what's the big deal?

Roger: If you are in the service industry, it is my belief, you need to be there for your clients during this time of year.

Rosie: Obviously you want to be with your family, but that doesn't mean you can't answer the phone and see what comes up.

Crystal: That's good and bad news, I guess.

Elizabeth: That's what I do. No one ever knows where I am at - or even ask - as long as I am available virtually.
