Best Free Christmas Light Displays in the East End of Louisville KY

Looking for the best places in Louisville KY to see some wicked good FREE Christmas light displays? Tired of having to pay high prices at places like Lights Under Louisville (Mega Cavern) and Kaleidoscope in the Galt House? Me too! So I set out with a carload of Christmas spirit and here  is what I found. . .

5. Broeck Pointe- it's a small neighborhood, but there are some really great lights in here and it's a short drive.

4.  This cute home on Iola in St. Matthews. They have a great mix of lights on the house and figures in the front. Lots of cute vintage penguins and such!

3. Brown Park near Baptist East Hospital and Suburban. Brown park has giant Christmas light display that the kids can walk up to and see up close. They have huge displays through out the park. Just make sure to bundle up- since it can take awhile to make it around the park on foot. It's nice and level for the most part, so it's an easy walk. There is plenty of parking. As a side note- there are port-a-potties here, way in the back of the park if you need one in an emergency.

2. My single most favorite residential Christmas light display in Louisville KY is hidden away on Blackburn Ave.  They have tons of lights and figures. Normally the star is on top of the house, so either it's too hard to get up there now or they have gotten complaints from some bahhumbuggers. This one is a little hard to find, but worth it. You can pull over and really look at the lights, but beware of the mud!

1. And last but not least, my most FAVORITE Christmas light display in Louisville- Windemere Place. Almost every house has lights (much how almost every house on H decorates for Halloween, well that's what Windemere does for Christmas!). They coat the trees that line the street in lights- it's magical. Also, the last weekend before Christmas Santa makes an appearance on Saturday night and Sunday. My daughter (who was five at the time- and believed in Santa, but didn't trust that the men dressed in Santa suits were really him) absolutely flipped out and when she saw Santa. He gave her a candy cane and she was breathless. (It was a nice change from the norm :) ). Definitely check this out on a night when you can drive around with the heat blasting and your windows open.

I hope you enjoy my favorite places to see free light displays in Louisville- tell me, do you have any you would add to the list?

Honorable Mention: The front home in the front of Woods of St. Thomas. They have put lights up for the past twenty years like clockwork- and they are pretty cool. The rest of the neighborhood has some, but this house is the cherry on the sundae.

Thanks Pamela! It was a pretty nasty night when we went out to get them, so I'm glad they turned out!

You may want to check out the train museum in La Grange. They have lit up a train.

Thanks for the list, but street addresses (even if approximate) for all of these would have been really helpful.
