Holidays Aren't Always Happy for Everyone
It's that time of year again when we hear Holiday music, buildings are decorated with brightly colored bulbs, and folks are rushing about shopping for their loved ones. But not everyone is in a holiday spirit. Holidays Aren't Always Happy for Everyone.
Statistics show that about half of the population over the age of 18 is divorced. So keep that in mind when you ask what someone is doing for the holidays. Those folks may be displaced from family, friends and loved ones.
If you're single during the Holiday season, accept invitations and be a friend to others. Don't try to be something you're not, but instead be authentic. Recognize that you don't have to be with someone else to feel "whole." The most important relationship you have is with yourself. Don't limit your invitations and instead, dress up and be a friend to others.
Positive self talk is better than negative self limiting behavior. There's a lot of similarities between single mental behavior and the mentality of a sales job, "Fake it till you make it." When you practice being happy around others, pretty soon you learn that behavior and it works. This is no different than being in a new sales career.
If you're at a party and you see someone alone, include them in your conversation. That person would rather chat with a friendly party goer than be left alone. Remember - Holidays Aren't Always Happy for Everyone.
