Merry Christmas!

There are so many things to write about, but at 6 PM on Christmas Eve? I am not affiliated with any religion, and for me Christmas is more a wonderful winter Holiday. Even though winter here is more like summer… Yesterday it was 84F, and we had a long walk on the beach.

It is different today, We only hit 66F, and it is windy, and makes us dream of summer :)

ChristmasInterestingly, when I read “Christmas” back in the USSR I knew that it was something in the past. It belonged to 19th century. We had New Year, and we loved it a lot, but getting another winter Holiday is just wonderful.

So, today it is more appropriate to wish all my friends a Merry Christmas. And this is exactly what I am doing today.

There will be time for serious and not serious stuff in the few days before we change the clocks to 2014.

Wow, thisis cool. Дед Мороз и Снегурочука... Interestingly how they made a switch from Christmas, and shifted it towards New Year, and in our believe it was all happening on New Year Eve.

Bill - with new Holidays we pick the form, but not really the substance. Yes, we celebrate them, but we do not have that, how to call it, package going into the holiday. I read, I believe, Jeffs post on the whole ritual, and what he does and how it is done, and I saw that there was sense in it, even if it is only preserved as a tradition. We might lack that.

A few years ago we got together for Thanksgiving dinner, and it would be as usual, if not for Inna's American husband. So, we had this what we were thankful for, and the whole spirit of the Holiday was different since then.

In this sense Christmas is no ddifferent from New Year. All what we thought were New Year traditions turned out to be Christmas traditions...

Jon, like you, it's really hard to be in the "mood" with our weather.  No  sleigh rides here, either.  Me - I tend to go overboard with the decorating just to get in the "mood."  Well, just stopped by to wish you a wonderful near year!!!!
