My 'Me Agreement' Has Everything To Do With My Database

I have had a database ever since I got into real estate some 20+ years ago. When I started, it was the 4x6 cards. I must say they worked darn well. Then I invested in Top Producer and it became even simpler to keep my database updated and on track. But alas all the extra's TP offered were not being utilized proficiently which made it more expensive than it's return. Then one day I had a conversation with another top agent in my office about databases and what we use. His CRM was inexpensive but powerful so I  made the Executive decision to switch and give it a try.

Now that I have been using this CRM for two years I must say it is perfect for me and I have not found it to be cumbersome, expensive or offering more than I would actually use . Nope all of that was just fine and dandy. But this holiday season a huge uh oh hit me in the face as I was sending out cards, calendars and such. The huge uh oh was me!! And that's why my 'Me Agreement' has everything to do with my Database. my database

As I was going through my database I realized there were  conversations, meetings, phone calls etc that I never recorded or set for follow up. There I was looking at a name and going... 'I spoke with them... what was it about now'???? I also noticed a few names missing. Really???? You mean I forgot to add to my datatbase too? Ok so they were recent but still!!

So I made a 'Me Agreement' that at the end of each day I would record in my datatbase everything that had to do with a client, old or new. No uh oh's this new year. My 'Me Agreement' Has Everything To Do With My Database

So there it is. No forgetting this new year. I not only made a 'Me Agreement' through Echosign and printed it out but I also just made an announcement by posting for all to see.

It's an agreement that is going to make a world of difference to my life.

Good for you!  This is so important.  I find that doing this at the 1st of month works well for me.  the 1st is my trigger point and it goes on my list and must be done by the 10th.  (the monthly email goes out around the 12th to 15th pending on the month so it gets me in gear).  I started this last Jan and it has worked out sooooo well. - Debbie

The effort on keeping up with the database notes in the New Year is going to be well worth it.

This is something I also need to get better at. Someone calls, I get busy and forget to enter the conversation.

Databases are so important!  There is just too much to keep in your head and things will get lost in the shuffle!  Way to take care of your business in your busy-ness!

Hi Martha, You have an excellent goal to address your Database in 2014. I am fixing to drop TP also, and move to another CRM that is less expensive too.

Let's do it Martha! My CRM is currently a mix of iPad contacts, a stack of business cards and notes scribbled in my pocket calendar.. I'm going to start organizing tomorrow.

How's the broker's license coming along?
