While it was not without considerable kicking and screaming, it feels like a million buck$. However, I was not at all prepared for the relief that came with it.
Obviously I could not have gotten to a million points without a lot of help from many of the rest of my ActiveRain family.
I would like to thank everyone that has helped me over this hurtle—it has made me rich in so many ways.
I thought it was pretty cool that my buddy Jim Quarello was the one that got to put me over the hump--even though I had it "perfectly" lined up to land on exactly 999999!
As every dark cloud has a silver lining, I cannot help but be humbled by the 93 other Rainers that have so many more than a million points. The select few that have become multi-millionaires are being chased by many others.
It is these point-maniacs in the stratosphere beyond me that impresses me.
I have been the turtle, moving along at my own pace, actually never caring about any imaginary finish line. Arriving at the million point mark did not happen without effort, and it certainly is no “finish line.” The finish line keeps moving on out of reach like a mirage, no matter how fast I go.
Just for fun, and because I could, the turtle sprinted a bit just to see if he could catch the mirage by the first of the year.
Now that I have arrived, I see the finish line still far off in the distance--as far away as when I got my very first points.
Back in 2011, I posted a short story about a motorcycle riding turtle, I invite you to check it out if you have not done so already. If you find this story interesting and you would like to read some others, please visit Stories Written Stories Told.
