I am not a huge beer drinker...but I love a good craft beer. I have found over the years that most of the places that call themselves brewpubs or say they make beer on the premises usually have one vat...and produce very limited quantities of their own suds. They may have a tap or two of in-house beer...with an additional 30 taps of anything from Bud to Miller.
With this in mind I ventured out to the newly opened Intracoastal Brewing Company (It is located at 652 W. Eau Gallie Blvd, Melbourne, FL 32935). The best way to describe the style and feel of the place is a Gen-X brewery. This is not a place to come and eat...unless pretzels and beer is your normal dinner. It is a place to enjoy well crafted house made beers that are truly amazing. Intracoastal Brewing Company does offer a guest tap crafted by another small brewery every day...otherwise it is all Intracoastal Brewery selections (for those who do not like beer they have a couple of bottles of wine to keep you busy).
A tried a "flight" of beers...which included six in house selections in smaller glasses (they also have seven and 8 flight selections from $11-$15). The bar tender set up the beers in tasting order selection, and she did a great job. Each beer offered a different smell, texture and taste...all were delicious. I strongly recommend trying a "flight" your first time in!
Once you have narrowed down the flight to your favorite of the night (they change the selections all the time...always inventing new delicious brews)...take one home in the handy growler size (huge). You can save the bottle and bring it back...fill up only $9. ($14 with the growler bottle)
In short...Intracoastal Brewing Company is my new favorite hangout in Melbourne, FL for delicious craft beer...come in with some friends and enjoy the days selection! They are open from Thursday - Sunday...click on the website for more details: www.intracoastalbrewingcompany.com
