Speak Mindfully When Sharing New Ideas
I had a conversation with a client about the "Mystical Dragon" associated with thier culture's belief system which has been around for over 5-6,000 years.
According to thier culture, dragons have been revered as guardians and protectors. In fact we are ending the Year of the Water Dragon according to the Chinese culture. Yet, just as with any mystical creature or even human being, you will have those who are balanced and unbalanced at times. The ancient cultures (and even still today) would use animals and elements to help teach humans to be mindful when ego was not in check and when to make adjustments to help get back to center with our body, mind and spirit.
What disturbed me about our conversation was not the talk of dragons, it was thier casual saying how another form of an organized influence has come to their land to share a fear based perspective of Dragons. My cleint even expressed confusion with the teachings because it went against all he knew and before these new teachings came to be, he always felt safe with dragon images and emblems around his home.
Once viewed as a positive entity which is deeply connected to the roots of thier culture is now in the process of being shunned and disregarded. It saddens me to see that many still try to push their agenda onto others, especially with cultures that are known for their deep and profound wisdom.
Yet this story can be accommodated even on individual levels and connections with life. Its great to share new insights but please be mindful not to push your agenda onto others. Present the idea an allow that person to decide.
