The Morning of the Big New Year's Eve Celebration in Key West, Florida

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

In some ways, I see a strong comparison between Skagway, Alaska, and Key West, Florida. Both are pretty much on opposite ends of the world. Of course, if you ask me which place I'd rather be tapping my toes on New Year's Eve, I'm gonna pick Key West for the weather alone, although Skagway is absolutely beautiful.

On the plus side, at least Skagway residents get a relief from the onslaught of tourists when the cruise ship season ends, but it looks like Key West never gets any rest from the throngs of tourists. Tourists are everywhere, like ants on a rotting doughnut. What the hey, everybody is jovial or drunk or hungover, and the anticipation of New Year's Eve is in the air.

As a former Alaskan, I'd choose Skagway any ole day. I really enjoy that little town, plus, it's a hop, skip and a jump to Juneau, where my son and grand-kids live. But, I get your point. ;)

Happy New Year to you Elizabeth!

After hearing about the crowd in Key West, I think I'd go with Skagway too.

Happy New Year!

Hey Debb: I liked Skagway a lot, too. It sort of pulls you in, in a strange way.

Hi Melissa: Do you mean you spent your honeymoon in Skagway? I am confused about the first day with your husband. Or did you meet him there?
