Here’s Your Sign . . . .

Bill Engvall, a comedian and recent contestant on Dancing With The Stars, has a stand-up bit he does as part of his act with The Blue Collar Comedy Tour.  His act includes quips about really stupid things people do or say and ends each with the tagline “Here’s Your Sign”.

I had a real “Here’s Your Sign” moment today that totally overwhelmed me!  Bill and I are fighting a flu bug and so I ran into the local dollar store to grab some cough drops and other OTC medicine which, apparently, you have to be a certain age to purchase.  

The conversation between the High School Age-Looking Cashier and I goes like this:

“I need your birth date”

“2-1-60”   (for those of you trying to do the math, I’ll be 54 soon)

“What month is that”

(Seriously) “February”

With a glazed over look she says “It’s asking for the date”

“2-1-60”.

“I need the WHOLE thing” (of course now she's using her agitated tone)

“2 - 1 - 60 IS the whole thing”

The people in line behind me totally laughed out loud and finally the cashier next to her says “February 1, 1960”.  Sad but a true story!
