Cleaning Up Your Credit

So, you want to improve your credit scores? It can be done.

Recently, I embarked on seeing what the effects would be on my credit scores by simply requesting my credit report and then disputing the many inaccuracies found. I was amazed, within five months my score had moved up almost 70 points.

It's a big deal that you have the best possible credit score and that you consistently monitor for negative stuff. In addition, knowing what can screw up your score is important too. You swing by the Victoria's Secret or some other store and they offer you 25% off of today's purchases if you apply for a credit card. You think, "I'll never use the card....but I'll take the credit card." Congratulations, you just lowered your credit score.

A lower credit score can lead to denied credit or a higher interest rate.
